Citizens for Hockinson Schools is a 100% volunteer, 501(c)4, not for profit organization that is currently devoted to educating our community on the importance of voting yes for this levy.

School levies bridge the funding gap between state “basic education” funding and local needs/expectations.  Levies are local property taxes, passed by the voters of a school district that generate revenue to fund programs, services and projects that the state does not pay for as part of “basic education.”

The Hockinson School District will be seeking to pass a levy in February of 2022 that will directly fund many needs at the school district including Special Education programs, extracurricular activities and athletics, staff training and development, teachers and support positions, and student transportation.

Research shows that being part of school activities - which are largely funded by local levies - promotes greater academic achievement for everyone. Currently, Hockinson High School has a graduation rate of 95%. Approximately 60% of our high school students participate in at least one extracurricular activity.  Levy money is needed if we are to continue to support these activities that promote student engagement and academic success.
