Hockinson Soccer Team - Perfect Attitude Leads to Perfect Season

In 2003, Hockinson fielded their first women's soccer team. The team had a rough year, but an indominable spirit.

The Columbian - September 3, 2003 (see article Seasons of Firsts)

"The first soccer match? A 14-0 loss. Their second? A 5-0 defeat. The Hockinson Hawks have had a rough start. But not so fast.

"I don't see it as a loss," freshman Erica VanNatta said of the second match. "It almost feels like we won by nine becuase we made some really good improvements."

Perhaps a perfect attitude for Hockinson, a 2-year-old high school fielding a girls soccer team for the first time..."

Today, the Hockinson soccer team is truly indominable, in spirit and on the field. On March 20, 2021, the team won the T2A Southwest District Championship on Saturday at District Stadium in Battle Ground. Hockinson won 2-0 to complete a perfect 11-0 season.

"Some teams can claim perfect seasons. Even fewer can say they had flawless years.

Hockinson girls soccer did just that over the past five weeks, going 11-0 and outscoring opponents 55-0." Read the story here.

The team took the field again this fall, finishing second in the Greater St Helens 2A League. They are currently in the state soccer semi-finals. Read about it here in Clark County Today. Let's go Hawks!

 Congratulations to our Hockinson Hawks!
